The adoption process:
Animals you see on our site have been rescued from the street or from cruel or irresponsible owners. Usually, they are mixed breeds and we can’t specify their exact origins. This is why we can’t predict with much precision how they will develop, which breed characteristics will dominate etc. Our goals is to find responsible, well-prepared and loving owners for our animals. Therefore, we have prepared a few very important steps in the adoption approval process. You may know that you are the perfect owner for one of the pets, but we have no way of knowing that until you give us a chance to communicate with you and convince us. The aim is to ensure a successful adoption and pleasant cohabitation for both parties.
Adoption process consists of several stages:
First, you choose the animal you want to adopt and send us a completed adoption application form. Then, if your application is approved, we will contact you by phone or make an appointment with you. You will also meet the animal you want to adopt.
If your application is denied, do not get discouraged or take it personally! This doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t make a good owner. It is possible that another person sent an application and got approved before you. Or, that this particular animal had some specific issues, required special attention or would not suit your lifestyle. In such a case, rejection saves you many problems and disappointments in the future. We inform potential candidates why their application was not approved.
If your application is successful, you will sign an adoption contract describing all terms and conditions and take the animal home with you for a trial period. We always ask new owners to keep in touch with us, send us pictures, clips and messages after the adoption, until we are convinced that you are a good match. We are always there for you in case of any problems or doubts.
* If, at any point in the future, and for whatever reason, it turns out that you cannot take care of the adopted animal any longer, you are obliged to contact us and return it to Animal Welfare. Giving it to third parties without our knowledge and approval is strictly prohibited!
** Neutering is obligatory for all our animals. If the young age of an animal does not allow neutering, the new owners are obliged to neuter it, with our help, at a later stage!
